MAAK was asked to design an installation as part of the #cocreateDESIGN festival.

This intervention seeks to address the topic of social cohesion in the many public spaces throughout South African cities. By looking at how we can deconstruct exclusive colonial design and promote resilient, inclusive and democratic public spaces.

Through simply reimagining a basic architectural element (a set of stairs) the intervention shows how design provides the opportunity to facilitate inclusiveness in our cities and encourage human interaction and engagement.
